The naked truth behind girl power

What Women Need

(Article, 223 words. Est. 1 min reading time + 12 mins Video)

Ted talk very similar to the thesis I presented in my article “Rooting the Fear  Out of Relationships” I noticed a TED talk which appears to be in line with my claims by Reshma Saujani.

By way of summary, I paraphrase the theses is as follows:

1. Bravery and risk-taking are at the heart of real human intelligence. The power to courageously push past one’s psychological barriers that might variously manifest as “I can’t”, or “this is not a Woman’s place”, or “It’s too difficult/complicated”, or “It’s too boring” or “Nobody cares or understands”, or “I’ve failed to do this in the past” are all (essentially) different types or derivations of FEAR.

2. Consequently, great achievements by females CAN gain more recognition in the mainstream when women break their behavioral patterns of complying with notions of Perfection, and instead acceding to become greater risk-takers. Beyond female physiology, this is merely a cultural and psychological human trait that can be trained or disciplined into ones’ thought processes. For both women and men.

2. Quite frankly you don’t need to be a brain surgeon in order to achieve small OR great things. All you need is to be persistent, and to recognize fears when they arise, and not be put off by past failures.
